You may want to do a search in the body care subforum in mindful home management for more info. on EOs.
I buy different qualities of EOs depending on my intended usage.
For therapeutic use, I strongly prefer YL (despite all the questionable info) and a brand a local day spa (not your ordinary "spa") carries. I also use NOW and Aura Cacia for therapeutic EOs because I can get them locally on sale every once in awhile.
For scent purposes (not really therapeutic in my mind/usage), I am not nearly as picky. I pick up random EOs just based on the smell and use them for many housecleaning purposes and in the car, etc. I own several different brands and do not recall them all right now.
I have what many would consider an extensive collection of EOs that I have built over the years. My YL EOs are still going strong and they were among the first I purchased way back in 1999-2001. They haven't gotten goopy or turned weird colors or anything. My Tisserand EOs got icky pretty fast and I pitched what little I hadn't used long ago. I enjoyed them for the sample packs I had gotten at the time to try 15 EOs for very reasonable prices (in person), but they didn't last long at all so I cannot recommend them. I don't really have any "issues" with NOW or Aura Cacia, but they do not seem to be the highest quality EOs or carrier oils. They both change consistencies before the average two year guideline for therapeutic use and certain EOs smell really "off" to me in those brands versus other brands. The Happy Soul is another Tupperware-style selling set-up and I love the EOs I chose from them, but the selection was very limited and I just got what I consider "housecleaning" scents for fun (pink grapefruit, pine, etc). They have held up much better than I anticipated, though. I believe it has been two years now and they are still the right consistency and the smell hasn't changed at all, even in the citrus ones.
I want to try Mountain Rose Herbs the next time I need EOs.
