Best Sling for Small Mom?

Hello everyone,
This may have already been addressed, but I couldn't find it. I really like the idea of getting a sling to carry around my daughter (once she's born!). My concern is my size. I'm five feet (well, OK 4'11 and a 1/2!) and pre-pregnancy weighed between 90 and 95 pounds (and I assume I'll get down there again someday)...so I'm smaller than your average North American woman. The last thing I want to do is order some expensive sling just to find that the baby dangles against my thighs, or that because of the length, my shoulders have to take more of a load than is good for them. I know they say they are adjustable, but I've had experiences with other adjustable items that simply aren't adjustable enough. I was leaning towards hotslings because they actually have sizes. Any short moms out there have any suggestions for me? Thanks!

I did fine with a Maya Wrap (original style). I'm only an inch or so taller than you, and not much heavier when I used it. I even had a larger size than I needed, because I wanted lots of "tail" fabric for covering up while nursing or to shelter baby from the sun, etc.
Never found it to be a problem to adjust small enough to keep baby up high, and have since lent it to friends who are the same height as me.
I would think that a sling with padded rails might be more tricky to adjust, but the Maya Wrap is really just flat fabric and was incredibly adjustable.

Some wahm ring sling makers can build them to your size. Maya is a great one! small was plenty big enough for me. If it hangs too much you can also tuck in the extra, or wrap around the rings.
