Progesterone side effects?

So, my OB has me on progesterone/prometrium for multiple early losses. I started the progesterone yesterday, and it knocked me out. I'm waiting to take it today at bed time, here in a few. I'm looking for input from others that have been on it, side effects? I'm a whopping 13 DPO, so very newly pregnant, with 10 more weeks of progesterone to take, I want to know what I'm in for Thanks!

Are you taking the oral or the supposatories? I only took the oral and only the one pregnancy (1 pregnancy I tested low on progesterone but not the others).. it also made me quite sleepy. I took 3 a day.

The PA had told me they would make me "sick as a dog" but they didn't just very, very sleepy. I only took them for 9 weeks I think? I miscarried and didn't need them since.

It knocks you out! I have been on suppositories (I don't absorb them) and injections, and wow. It also does a number on the elimination system. It goes by quickly and it's totally worth it. I have to take it with every pregnancy, and we're thinking three or four kids.

I'm on oral, 200mg once a day. I took it last night, and that helped a ton. Your elimination system comment... is this what is causing all the gas/bloating/diarrhea/etc.? I have an unhappy tummy, and gas cramps, feel like cramp-cramps, then I get all worried... It's a viscous cycle!

What about symptoms? Does it make your first trimester symptoms more intense? I am nauseous all ready and I'm usually not only a little nauseous from 8 to 12 weeks. Plus I have terrible food aversions and sensitive smell. Some degree of this is normal, of course, but not this much for me, especially not at 4 weeks! My period was only due today, for heaven's sake!!

Thanks mama's! This, and much more, is all worth it if I have a HH9!

For me it is hard to separate what is the progesterone from what is normal b/c I have been on it with both pregnancies. Yes, the gas/bloating, etc are worsened by the prog - it gets better when the trimester ends. I also was depressed, but it lifted immediately after stopping the supplementation. I didn't get depressed with DS and my nausea wasn't as bad either, so I think the progesterone probably does magnify nature to some degree.
Hang in there, it passes!

I have taken progesterone supplement suppositories 2X/day with both pregnancies. I have been gassy/burpy throughout both DS's pregnancy and this one (18 wks). With DS I was barely nauseous. This time around I was quite queasy/icky throughout the first trimester. I think it just depends on the pregnancy. I think progesterone can affect things, but I think all of the effects you've described can change from pregnancy to pregnancy. Hang in there...it's worth it! :-)
