Replacing Swaddle as sleep cue

Would love some advice. DD has been relatively easy to put to sleep with the exception of a week or so of her life.

She is almost always swaddled to go to sleep, always when we are at home for sure. It takes her about 5 minutes to nurse to sleep. If she is not swaddled, sometimes she can't go to sleep at all...she rubs and rubs and rubs her eyes, get's restless, etc.

She is 5 months now and does not like to be swaddled in the middle of the night any more. She will tolerate it to GO to sleep, but once she starts to stir again she is over it.

I figure it's a good time to cut it out altogether. It is a strong sleep cue though.

Any tips? Another good sleep cue that does not require a super long routine, song and dance, etc.

thanks.

I'm in exactly the same boat. I think we may try to wean ds off the swaddler by leaving one arm free for a few weeks and then both. We haven't started yet though. Good luck to you!

Both my kids loved the swaddle for the first 3 months or so. When they started busting out of it and rolling over onto their tummies, I switched them to a Grobag (sleep sac). The first few nights were a bit challenging but they got used to it quickly. Good luck!
