Kefir grains

I would like to have both water and milk kefir. Can I order water kefir and after getting a good amount of grains use some of them in milk?

I think water kefir grains and milk kefir grains are pretty different. I know you can convert milk kefir grains to juice/water, but they won't reproduce and eventually stop kefiring. I've never heard of converting water kefir grains to milk though.
