High-Needs Babies Tribe - Interested? - Page 9

I'm so glad this thread got bumped up! I had started a similar one in my DDC, but it seems that few other folks there have been "blessed" with a HN babe!

Anyway, I have a 6.5 week old DD who seems to be fitting much of the high-need profile at this point in her short life (must always be held, tends to respond to the world by screaming, can't stand being laid down to nap, only sleeps on me or DH, not a fan of the carseat, a etc.). She's obviously still very much a newborn with newborn needs, but wow, are those needs intense! No mellow baby here...

So glad to see this thread, and so heartening to read that I'm not alone. I hope it stays revived! Any newer moms with HN babies out there?

I posted in it yesterday. I think it's easier to have the monthly group for regular updates and communication, as it's daunting to try and read so many pages. I did read through this entire thread awhile back, and found it comforting and useful, but it literally took several days to get through it all!

I too wonder if any of the mamas in this group have updates. Could be some of them have moved into the Toddler forum, it's been awhile....

I've had two high needs babies now and they both got a bit easier around the first birthday. I've heard that from other moms too: As they become mobile, they get easier to deal with. HN toddlers may not be as "easy" as other toddlers their age, but any improvement is welcome.

There's an interesting article about PPD in the current issue of Mothering. The reason I mention it is because I was diagnosed with PPD in the middle of dealing with my HN son. The recommendations for helping a mom with PPD are right on. If you have support available, get it early with a HN baby. And try to ignore unwelcome comments or suggestions -- you know your baby best.

I'm so relieved it's finally getting easier at 14 months because it's been a very hard journey for me.

Kristin
