question for sposie users - Page 2

Well with DD we used 7th gen-they run small, are expensive, but worked awesome for her, so did Pampers. Nature Babycare were the best, but they are expensive too, but OMG they can hold so much pee, especially in a size 4. Huggies were a poopy, blowout waiting to happen on her.

This time is so different, I stockpiled diapers with coupons and sales-so I have tried just about everything-it was the only way we could afford them, plus I'm just not a cloth girl, I really hate laundry

LUVS-work fine, are cheap, but decent, really perfumey.

Pampers-the Baby Dry now have stretchy tabs, so they are better-I don't like the perfume smell.

Huggies-my fave by far, I really like the Pure and Natural best, but they are spendy for less diapers-mainly I used them when DS was first born as they are hypoallergenic. I like Huggies Supremes, they basically are the same diaper.

Walgreens (regular)- leaked pee 3 times the first day
Pampers (swaddlers, baby dry)- tons of poo up back
Huggies (regular)- leaks pee every night, but mostly great on poo
Target- poo up back
Walmart (parents choice)- pretty good on poo, leaks pee overnight and sometimes in day
Luv's- only had one diaper so can't tell. Seems like pampers

I'm so frustrated because this is a daily issue, poo or pee leaks. I'm not up for the work of cloth although sometimes it sounds tempting.

I am curious tough about putting a cover over the diaper. What cover would you use. Where would you get it? I'm tired of waking up baby for a middle of the night change.
I've purchased diapers for hundreds of children (in my former work as an Education Specialist and as a parent/foster parent.) I've bought many different brands and have never had problems like you are describing. For a few children, a particular diaper might not work but not to nearly that extent.

I'm wondering if you aren't choosing the right sized diapers for your child and if you aren't changing them frequently enough (in the case of urine leaks.) While modern diapers hold a ton of fluid, they are supposed to be changed pretty regularly.

I miss Target's old diapers. They used to be my favorite.

I change them about every 3 hours in the day. In the day we usually do not have leaks. It's the night that we have trouble. My boy 6m is a night eater. He'll eat 30m at a time 4 times a night. It's tons of liquid. He'll stay in bed for 12 to 14 hours and it's just too much for a diaper I think. Pampers does hold a lot of pee. I put him back in Pampers last night after Huggies leaked at 2:45am, changed at 11pm.
I'm thinking you are right, we need to go up a size. He's 17lbs. I've been using size 2. His legs are small and tiny butt, but they don't hold enough. Maybe 3's will work better.

Although I will add that I've had trouble most days since he's been born. It's a major frustration.

If you are looking for overnight diaper protection, try Huggies Overnights. They are in a purple package and I've found them at Kroger, Meijer, Wal-mart and Target. Pampers makes an 'extra protection' diaper now that is supposed to last up to 12 hours at night, but I have never tried them.

I use disposables overnight. We use the Huggies Overnite and they are pretty heavy duty. Have you tried those? My 6 month old wears a size 4 in sposies, so I know it's possible. My 2yo also wears a 4, so it's great for me that I don't have to buy different sizes! Sometimes we do sposies and my favorite are 7th Generation. They aren't more expensive than other brands if you shop somewhere like Babies R Us. The Huggies Little Movers are okay too. I don't like Pampers or Luvs at all. Too perfumy!

I've used a variety - mother-ease airflows are very leak-proof, any pocket diaper cover should work (I like pocket change, as they are the ones I have in L, so they fit over the diaper best), Bummis whisper pants, and right now I have two fleece covers (sugar peas? not sure on the brand) that never, ever leak. The only downside to the fleece is I have to wash them after each use, but they still work best for night, IMO.

Dummer's Wife- thank you for the info. I'm checking them out.

I'm witting to gripe. Size 3 Baby Dry 12 hours, one size up for us. I put him in at 9pm before bed and at 3:45am he peed in my spot on the bed while feeding him. I'd say that's hardly 12 hours. The second half of the night was better when he ate less. Why does this have to be so difficult for us? Is it just because he has a tiny Spanish bottom?

Pampers Cruisers are the only thing that has worked for us. We actually tried the Pampers Extra Protection, and those leaked pee overnight. The Cruisers hold pee better, and seem to do a great job with poop. I think I can only count 2 or 3 times when they leaked poop, and that was after almost 2 weeks of no poop, then all of it coming out at once in liquid form. Luckily DS's sweat pants contained it long enough to run him to the tub. We are now using a Stacinator wool cover over the sposies at night for pee leaks.
