Sorry that you have had to deal with this . While I do not have personal experience with it, I have a friend whose child (who is now about 5) was diagnosed with Kawasaki's as a baby. They were told it was "unkwnown" where it came form.....my friend is convinced that it was from toxic exposure to chemicals. Incidentally the experience totally changed her life. She is now super crunchy and runs a center for green building educating others about toxic chemicals that lurk in our everyday lives. Hope your child heals soon

It's believed that both my boys had it in September. How it was handled, dx'd and treated still leaves me angry & upset but it's over with now and wasn't as scary as I was thinking it could be - they had it VERY mild (basically only peeling hands) and when we finally saw our pediatrician (he was away at the start of it) he said there are so many different levels of it. He ranked it between 1-10 (10 being the worst) and DS2 was ranked at a 5 and DS1 at a 3-4.

I would be concerned if you think your children had it because of hte risk of heart involvement. Were they checked? My daughter was 12 when she had it and she had a mild cold going on and then woke up one day said her hands felt funny. Things progressed from there with fever and such. She got blood red eyes and strawberry tounge but was never really sick. Her hands and feet peeled. we did treat her but had side effects to the high asprin for the high platlet count my daughter never had. UGGH We did do IVIG. Thankfully we have no heart involvment at this point. They believe it is the leading cause of heart defects in young adults so she has to be followed. She doesnt want anymore scans she beleives she is healed. I can tell you they told us she had a very mild case and if this was mild wouldnt want to see a bad case.
So we are claiming her healing.

And as you said it cahnged my life. I was already no toxic I used all non toxic cleaners and everything we had good diet BUT I think she was fighting something and we went on vacation my dh thinks it was the hotel room it smelled like chemicals. Who knows I will never know. But this illness is hard to take that is for sure cause you never know whats going on with the vessels in the body.

Thanks for replying nice to know I am no alone.

Blessings

My brother had it. He was 4 or 5 so I was 13 or 14. I remember it very well. It was right after my mom had had the carpets cleanened. He got it bad and was hospitalized. He is now 19 and in boot camp for the Navy.

My brother in law had it as a child. They think due to carpet cleaning. He did suffer serious heart damage as a result and goes in to the hospital periodically to be checked. He lives a pretty normal life now on the whole.
