Is it normal to have smelly gas?

Hi mamas. My ds is 3months old. About a couple of weeks he suddenly started producing smelly farts. I mean, they smell reeeeally bad. His BM suddenly went from 3-4 times/day to once every 2 days and the consistency is more runny (with no seediness anymore). Is this normal in a purely breastfed baby?

I'm going to make a guess and say it is not normal. Sounds like your LO has an imbalance in his gut. Do you give him infant probiotics? Are you sick at the moment or ingested anything out of the ordinary?

I haven't been sick and i haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary. I even eliminated dairy for a bit.

I haven't tried infant probiotics yet. Is that something one gets at the healthfood store? (I've never been to one of those, if you can believe it).

Did he get smelly gas after you added dairy back in? I would highly suspect dairy. Udo's Choice Dairy Free infant Probiotics is a good one to start with. your local health food store should have something dairy free for infants.

Whether excluding or having dairy doesn't seem to do anything; smells the same either way. Also, i ate tons of cheese in his first 2months of life and the gas didn't smell.

ds's bms changed to every few days and he has stinky toots now too. I am dairy, soy and peanut free so that isn't the issue for us
