I need a Homeschool Skedtrack genius/magician

We are predominantly an "as we go" version of homeschoolers. I've looked through EVERY thing they have and watched EVERY video.

When I go to Today-->Calendar, any day that I have Math (M/W/F), nothing else shows up BUT math. If I uncheck math on any given day, suddenly the rest of the courses show up for that day.

HOW do I fix this without losing all the activity input I have for math. Math is one of 2 courses I have activities input for (the rest are "as we go" slots of time). Even when Math and the other course (with activities already entered) on the same day, ONLY math shows up.

TIA!

I am pretty sure there is a drop menu near the top...are you sure it has ALL SUBJECTS selected instead of MATH when you are viewing the day? That's the only thing I can think might be happening if you actually have subjects assigned to that day.

Nope... the only dropdown I see is to change the student (I only have 1). And that wouldn't explain why when I go to math course edit and uncheck one of it's scheduled days, all the other courses for that day suddenly appear--ya know?

I'm also noticing that I changed duration of Story Time from 30 mins (the default) to 15 mins but it didn't change in the Today schedule even having done Save, Refresh, Approve (pending activities--a completed activity that it doesn't appear to mark as completed no matter what I do even though it worked for a different activity today) and completely logging out & then back in.

Without looking at your page I can't help with your first problem. However, for the second issue the time won't change for today's story time. All future days will be changed to 15 minutes automatically, but you will have to manually change today to 15 minutes. Also, every time you hit "save" you have to hit the "Approve" button again. I have found that it is best to wait until the end of the school day to hit the Approve button.

Does any of that help at all?

Yeah... that helps. But it's inconsistent: the first activity I filled in today and clicked "Complete" for shows up uneditable (which is totally fine) whereas the second one constantly needs to be re"approved" because it's checked off but doesn't "take" when I approve. So when I save, it tells me I have to approve pending activities.

Happy to let you log into my account if you think you could figure out the math thing, though. Very frustrating.

It's a weird tool.

Have you tried asking at the forums yet? If you can't figure it out soon I could try logging into your account to see what's up. I don't know that I'm an expert, though, so trying the forums might be the way to go first.

I think you have made math a 'day co-owner' so on any day you have math, it bumps out all other things. If you go into courses, then select edit on the math course, I think that in advanced scheduling the 'Day co-owner' box is selected. Either change it to always on schedule or leave both blank. That should fix you up!

I was just coming back here to say that's what it was! THANK YOU!

Also bookmarking the forums. Thanks for that, too!

I'm so glad that you figured it out! I was starting to sweat that I would try to help you and mess things up even worse. You're welcome regarding the forums. They came in handy when I first started using it.

Have you watched the tutorials?

I just popped into the thread and was going to ask if you'd checked the 'co-owner' thing, but I see you've already solved it.

I think the needing to re-approve everything is also 'normal' -- and there is a reason for it, though I can't recall it off the top of my head. Something to do with the way the database works. It does make sense though it can appear redundant at times.

And the time change thing has also been explained... I do recall seeing that mentioned in an FAQ or something. And yes, the forums are invaluable. There's even a subforum for suggesting features you'd like added to the tracker... often you suggest something only to have her come on and say "oh, actually we already have it, here's where to find it" heh...

Glad that helped. Now you totally need to change the title to Homeschool Skedtrack NOOB I just started using it, which is probably WHY I caught the problem... I had just been putting my kids courses into the program before I saw your post

I'm srsly this program!
