On my part.
I've posted here months ago, and I'm still having problems...
DS1 just turned 4. We potty trained right after he turned 3. It only took about 3 days, and he was taking himself into the bathroom to pee and poop. After 2 months he night-trained himself (just getting up at night to use the potty) and hasn't had a night-time accident since.
About 4 months after he was trained, he was able to take a 3 hour car ride and not have an accident, or go out shopping for several hours without making a stop.
Then soon after that he started having daily accidents. The thing was, he never told me, I just happened to notice at bedtime that his underwear and pants were wet. Sometimes a little (oops, I waited too long), sometimes a lot (I didn't bother to go pee). At first (a few months?) I didn't make a big deal of it, just simply changed him, told him he'd do better next time, etc.
After several months of no improvement (or worsening) I decided to try other things. I tried everything I could think of. Rewards for going all day without an accident. Taking priveliges (sp?) away when he peed. Time outs. Trying to find out WHY he was doing it. Reminding him ALL DAY, about every half an hour to go pee. Having him clean himself up and change clothes when he did. Everything.
He's still having accidents after MANY months. Most of the time he won't tell us... now, I think because we make an issue out of it, he has been starting to tell us about it, ALMOST with a smirk on his face. So we tried not making a big deal out of it again. The thing is.... he has accidents after a half an hour sometimes. So we do underwear checks several times a day (so he's not sitting on my furniture with wet pants). He doesn't drink much juice (maybe 4 oz a day), mostly water or milk, and not so much of it that I would think he would have to go more often than half an hour. He sometimes has several accidents a day. Oh, and he still gets up maybe once a night to pee. And has still had no bedwetting (has been in underwear since April at night). And no pooping accidents.
I'm at the end of my rope.... do you think maybe there's a medical condition? We go for his 4 year check up this week, and of course I'll mention it. But thought maybe someone had an idea.
Oh, and we've had no major things going on at home to make this happen. No new babies, no moves, no parents fighting, he isn't going to school. No deaths in the family. I became a stay at home mom last year, but we only started training once I was home. I give him lots of positive attention, spend lots of time with him...
