How do I keep my mind off labor

I am 38 weeks 3 days today and I am feeling so impatient and tired of being pregnant. Part of it is that I keep having these "teasing" feelings that seem like the start of labor but aren't. With my first, I never had any false labor or even many BH contractions until I was actually ready to give birth . This time though, I have been 3 cm dialated for a week now and getting all sorts of tightening feelings and cramps but no labor.
I have tried taking ds to museums, cleaning up, working on getting the baby stuff more organized, what else can I do to keep my mind off going in labor?

I'm feeling the same way.

I'm just so anxious for her to be here but I'm trying hard not to be - it just makes it worse.

At least you have more motivation then I do. I've been so supremely lazy lately it's embaressing. I keep ontop of the house (I hate, hate, hate a messy house) but the thought of going out anywhere doesn't seem fun. I should go walk around a mall again - we did that over the weekend and things were moving along but then promptly haulted when we stopped.

Hugs mama!

Hm, sounds like you are already doing a good job. Maybe visit with friends? Ask them to talk to you about their lives. You'll be forced to listen & hopefully take your mind off waiting for labor! How about watching movies or reading books? Exercising? (Dancing - check out on-demand exercise videos, yoga, weightlifting, etc.)

Unfortunately, the wait STINKS! SOOOO not fun, and I don't know that there is anything that can be done to make it much better - only to make it less awful. I waited until 41W4D, and I had been convinced I'd go by 39W.

I have a habit of going overdue, or way overdue. So, what I do the last month or two is start a project that takes a long time; make a quilt, an afghan, knit a few projects. There are other hobbies you might want to try. Be sure it is a big project that maybe you wouldn't normally do. Get it started in hopes to get it done before baby comes. Kymberli
