Signs of an early weaner?

9.5mo DD only nurses to sleep and has for a while. Sometimes she falls asleep right away too and will fall asleep other ways. She does nurse a couple times overnight, although she frequently pulls off and rolls over to go to sleep. The other day I accidently fed her on the same side for both naps, and tried to get her to nurse in the evening (when she wasn't sleepy) and she wasn't having any of that.

She loves solid food and has from the start. She feeds herself and I'm shocked by how much she puts away. She pulls up on her high chair and shrieks at me.

Just curious if this means she'll wean earlier and or what things indicate early weaning. I'm committed to bfing for two years, but don't want to sway her either way. Are some children just not that into nursing? Someone in LLL had a dc that weaned at about 16 months. She said near the end, she remembers yelling down the hall "you get back here and nurse!" as her DD jumped out of bed and took off first thing in the morning.

Are you giving her any formula? That does not sound like enough BM for 9 months. Their primary source of nutrition for the first year should be BM or formula. I would cut back on the solids a little and try to "entice" her to nurse more. Always offer nursing (and make sure she nurses) before solids. Here is a great page from kellymom.com with tips on getting baby to nurse more.

If you are ok with her weaning soon, don't take my advice, but you said you are commited to two years, so I would work on trying to get her to nurse more. If not, I would supplement with formula or goat's milk, to make sure she is getting all of the nutrients she needs.

I cut down the solids and set more time during the day to sit (yourself)down. Sometime we had a such a busy life that we don't seat much, and share skin to skin contact .. Is she eating purees or BLW?
