best in-home elliptical?

I'm looking at this elliptical [Amazon deal of the day--have to decide by 3 a.m.]. Anyone have any reviews on this or another elliptical machine? Recommended ones? Bad ones? Thanks!

That model is not highly rated by Consumer Reports.

According to the CR website these models are the best value:

Sole E35

Lifecore (This one is closest in price to what you are looking for.)

The top rated ellipticals were Diamondback or Pacemaster elliptical (couldn't find a link) but these are super expensive.

Okay, so CR's views aside, I do suggest you got to a sporting goods store and try out any elliptical before you buy. Mail order would not be my choice because stride length and feel vary quite a bit. Also you may find a $500 model that is just perfect for you.

We have used cheaper models and have been happy with ours.

We have an audiostrider 990 we bought 2 years ago. We love it. It is a space saver model, and it has speakers for an ipod, and a fan, plus all the other normal features of an elliptical; incline and resistance. It is quiet and easy to move, and is holding up well with moving and being used regularly by two adults (and the kids sometimes too
One thing about ellipticals that can really make a difference is the stride, ours is a longer stride which i really needed because i am 6'0. Some of the cheaper models have shorter strides, so trying them out in person is really helpful. Before we bought ours we went to sears and Dick's and tried out a bunch, even ones that were out of our price range so we could find what features we really cared about.
