Dry time for an AIO?

Thread Starter
So, I hate stuffing the pocket diapers all the time, I have to be honest.

I'm getting ready to sell my entire FB stash and am considering buying a couple of AIOs to try instead. I like the idea of cloth, but the pockets are just driving me nuts.

However, I'm worried about the dry time on an AIO. How long will it take to 'line dry' an AIO indoors on a drying rack? What about in the dryer?

Anyone use the BumGenius AIOs? What is your opinion of them? What size did you get for what size child?

I hate stuffing pockets, too, and for that reason we are only using AIO's at the moment (well, TBH, we are using sposies as we just got back from out of town).

I have Bum Genius organic cotton AIO's and Dream Eze organic cotton AIO's. I would say their dry time is similar (to each other, but longer than pockets); it usually only takes one cycle, on medium to high heat. Every once in a while a couple will seem damp, and I will turn it back on for 10 min. or so.

Not sure about line drying, but I do imagine it depends on your humidity - here, I would guess they would dry overnight, or mostly dry.

Size-wise - my BG's are OS, and my Dream Eze are L and XL - b/c the version I have ran small. My DS is 2.5, and 37 lbs. I would guess your LO would be in S or M's depending on brand.

HTH.

First of all, I recommend not selling your FB stash, or at least waiting a good long time until you do. Seller's remorse can be terrible, even when you're sure you know what you're doing.

The drying time on AIO's varies wildly depending on the type, with external soakers (Sposoeasy) drying faster than internal soakers (Osocozy, Mother-ease). However, drying an AIO indoors on a drying rack is going to take a while regardless.

I had some small BG AIO's for DD2 for a short time when she was still a newborn, but post umbilical cord, and I thought they were awesome and the drying time was not terrible as long as I turned them inside out before putting them in the dryer. (The built-in pocket was very very cool.) I wouldn't have tried line drying them indoors. I eventually decided AIO's are not for me as they seem to leak more than fitteds or Snappied prefolds that have the separate cover for extra protection.

I have some BG Organic AIOs OS - love these diapers! Haven't tried line drying inside, but they take one cycle in the dryer and are usually just very slightly damp, so I let them hang to dry and they are dry before too long (I don't know the exact amount of time, just know they are dry by when I use them later in the day).

These dipes are so trim and soft. I use them on my 6 wk old and on my toddler, who wears them during nap time.

I also have a SposoEasy, which dries during one cycle.

My BG AIO Organics take about 24 hours to line dry inside our very dry apartment. Still love them though!

BG organic aio has the soaker sewn in at the 2 ends, and has a fast drying time. Regular BG aio is a completely sewn in soaker and takes a long time to dry after sz small. I love BG aio for sz xs and s, but once I bought mediums I ended up selling them all b/c of the drying time. I have nb/s motherease aios and the soaker is only sewn in at one end so itll be a fast dry time. I NEVER NEVER buy aios w/ completely sewn in soakers b/c it takes a year to dry them. I prefer pockets b/c they dry so fast. I have 4 fluffymail aios that dry quick and these are usually my 'outing' diapers.

****I have 1 organic BG aio and it dries almost as fast as my pockets, and its OS, so pretty good deal, altho the velcro wore out in like 6 months

My stash is made up of mostly BG AIOs (not the organic). I love them. They're my favorite diaper. When we're going to be out for a long period of time, I add a Hemp babies doubler in the pocket, but at home or for quick trips out, I don't stuff. I don't care for stuffing anymore. I used to have all BGOS, but got tired of the stuffing and am so glad I made the switch!

I have 2 in diapers - an almost 7 month old and a 2 year old. They both wear the size Large.

They dry in one cycle for me. I turn them inside out after the first wash so they get really cleaned and they dry faster that way. I used to add a dry towel in the dryer as well, but I just got some dryer balls and they're great! No more need for the dry towel. I've never tried line drying them. I live in WA and we don't get much sun.

Turning them inside out has prevented this from happening for me. It does take a little bit of time turning them inside out and then undoing it afterward, but nowhere near as time consuming and tedious as stuffing pockets!

blech, im not sure what you mean by turning them inside out? The BG organic aios I mean, they dont really go inside out.....do they? I dont turn my pockets inside out, BUT I do turn my embroidered first class baby aios inside or they take a bit long.

Consider an AI2 perhaps? Flip, Grobaby, and Softbums are the ones I know of. Dry time is similar to a pocket but nothing to stuff.

Not the BG Organics. There is no way to flip those inside out. I was talking about the sized BG AIOs
