:yawning ... They need a new campaign.

At least they managed to refrain from calling the HPV vac 'the cervical cancer vaccine'.

It's just a plane ride away... This is a broken record, I'm so tired of hearing this reasoning from peds

If we have such "misinformation" or "incomplete" sure, fill us in. I'm sure we already know this information that you speak of, and have already decided what is best for OUR kids, you know, the ones WE carried for 9 months, WE births, WE raise, WE feed, WE cloth, WE nurture. Please people, back off, let parents decided for their kids' health, we are not stupid.

darn!

Somebody was really hoping for a few suckers ready to rush their kids in for those needles.

Oh good grief.

Is it me or are there several lies in that article?

I am so tired of them.

Implies that there was a time when vaccines were not safe, no?

Well, less safe...

They wouldn't actually say there was a time when vaccines were actually dangerous and hurt people.

You know, I'm SO glad they didn't have this vaccine out when I was young, or else I probably would've been forced into getting it .

Oh, JOY!!! Where can I sign up?!?!?!

Nope, never stops

What also gets me is the combined vax statement. Why not offer the single doses/vaxes anyway? (I'm thionking of MMR). Why does it have to be all or nothing? Why not give parents the option? I think I can handle making separate trips to the Dr. office if I choose to do so. From a CDC standpoint, wouldn't it be better for a kid to get some vaccines instead of no vaccines?

Oh well. I'm not surprised.

That's exactly where I stand. They're lucky that some of us are wanting any vaccines *at all.* This strategy is sure to backfire on them. I can't speak for other parents, but as a selective vaxer, I would rather give my children no vaxes at all than be forced into vaxes that I don't want.

And here's what really gets to me. Google the terms "vaccines" and then either "fear mongering" or "culture of fear." You will inevitably come up with articles about nasty, negligent parents who are brainwashed to believe that vaccines are evil and--of course--to be feared.

The irony that really bites is that for people so critical of fear-mongering, our fanatically pro-vax brethren/sisters sure do resort to a lot of it. If you deviate one hair from the Schedule, your baby and countless other babies will DIE, I tell you DIE!!!!!

OK, I exaggerate. . But articles like this do rely on fear and vaccinate-or-else threats.
Yeah, seriously...the fear mongering is a bit ridiculous. Honestly, the more informed I am and educated I am on vaccines, the more it enforces my choice to not vax.

I better remember to get ds out to get the HPV4 vaccine to prevent genital warts. While I'm at it, why don't we circ him too so he has a decreased risk of getting HIV? By the time my ds is older, they will probably have vaxs to protect against all of the STDS then we won't have to even worry about talking about using condoms, right?
Huh? Are they saying H1N1 vax EVERY year? or is this just for THIS year?

Also, do people die of genital warts? is it still to protect against a few strains that may occasionally cause cervical cancer in women?

And why push the combo vax? Isn't it better in their eyes if the kids are fully vaccinated, although slowly over time, or that parents decline the combo vax and don't vax at all because the combo has all sorts of junk in it...?

I'm not gonna read that cause it's going to make me mad.
But on their argument that stupid, evil, uneducated parents decline vaccinating: they have done polls and noticed over and over, much to their surprise, that parents who refuse to vaccinate tend to be more educated than parents who do vaccinate. Meaning lots of those parents had college degrees and higher. They don't understand why and how as the argument of the ignorant parents doesn't work. So they say we all got brainwashed by the internet, oh well. Or I heard once the classification "that type of Wholefoods parent". Like it's in fashion or something....
For the record, I read package inserts, CDC and FDA information and all the studies I could find on PubMed. It were THEIR publications that made me hesitant and startled me and I was shocked to see so little statistical evidence and so many question marks in their research. All that stuff wouldn't pass in any other science, no way ever.

It is my understanding that they are encouraging the H1N1 EVERY year, just like the seasonal flu vax. The HPV for girls is to protect against those strains that can cause cervical cancer.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they are encouraging more parents to get combo shots instead of individual (if even available) ones. What kind of money is in getting the combo opposed to individual ones, for the docs offices? For the pharm companies? Is there more of a profit to giving the combos? If so, there is your answer.

Me too. I was on another mainstream web board and a mom posted the inserts to support the H1N1 vax, and I couldn't believe her oversights on the saftey clearly stated on them.
