I'm still bleeding. Not alot, but reddish and enough to be too much for a panty liner. I'll be 4 weeks PP on Wed. I don't bleed days I do nothing but move from the bed to the arm chair, but today we had a bath, visited the ped (in a car) and took a 20 minute walk. And I bled after. Is it normal to still be bleeding? Should I just do nothing but read, sleep and BF (and potentially lose my mind) until I stop bleeding totally? for how many days? help!

Post partum bleeding can last up to 6 weeks. Here is something I copied and pasted from a very useful website I consult once in a while. There are some signs to watch for that may indicate another problem such as postpartum hemorrhaging. These can include:
- Your postpartum bleeding is still bright red after 7-10 days after birth.
- You experience a fever and/or have the chills.
- The discharge has a foul odor to it.
- Bleeding is particularly heavy (defined as soaking one maxi pad in one hour).
- You experience a rush of blood after bleeding has been slowing for several days.
- You experience golf-ball sized or larger blood clots.
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your health care provider.

I'm glad you posted this because I was going to ask, too. I'm over 3 weeks out and still have bright red bleeding. There have been whole days its stopped and I thought it was done, and I get a gush of red. Now it's a trickle.
I stopped bleeding much sooner with my first two, and I did more physically those times than I did this time. I rested for 2 weeks this time, and even now dh is working part time so I'm not even back to my full responsibilities. And the blood gushes don't necessarily coincide with doing too much, a few times it's been after a nap or when I wake up in the morning.
It's concerning, yet I don't feel like I have an infection, don't have any clots, and otherwise feel well so I don't think something major is wrong

Well, if it's happening to so many of us, then it can't be too abnormal, but it's still annoying! I think I was done bleeding by 2 weeks the previous times, and totally back to normal by 5 weeks. Now I'm approaching 4 weeks and still bleeding! Oh well, I guess it's just a reminder that I'm still postpartum and to still give myself a break whenever I can!

i had the same problem too! i kept bleeding after birth, it wasn't alot but i still bled...and what happend to me was that it had turned into me having my period...i went to see me ob at 4weeks instead of 6 weeks, and she checked me and told me i was having my period, which confused me, because i read somewhere that breastfed moms don't get there period back until several months down the road
but even after the 6 weeks i still bled but not a whole lot, and i thought she must have been mistaken...but it eventually stopped and every month after that i was menstruating...i didn't even feel cramps like everyone else while breastfeeding, so i figured i must be different lol
unless your doctor tells you otherwise that everything it alright with you it's nothing to worry about

ugh! I am so over the bleeding... And to think that I might go right into a period is double ugh! 3 weeks out isn't too much but it seems lots longer than with my other two, though that was a long time ago and maybe I just don't remember. It is encouraging however to read that all you are in the same boat!

I started ecological bfing after DD was born. AF came back at 7 weeks. Then again every 28-30 days like clockwork. First time was 16 weeks which I blamed on exclusive pumping (even though I pumped round the clock). I'm really hoping to catch a break this time. I finally stopped PP bleeding last week at 5 weeks 1 day.

I'm only 2.5 weeks pp, but still having a fair amount of red bleeding. It's enough that (tmi) when I go to the bathroom just to pee, there's often blood in the water. I'm feeling fine, not weak or anything, but it just seems like it should be lighter at this point . . . I did have an incredibly huge placenta, so maybe it's just taking longer to heal? Regardless, it's irritating.

Dantesmama - I had blood red bleeding (enough to color the toilet water) through my third week and I had a small placenta (and small baby).
I'm 4.5 weeks PP and I don't bleed hardly at all anymore, except when I walk. All it takes is like a 15 minute walk and I gush again. Not alot, but enough. It's getting really old.
