Extreme caffeine and alcohol sensitivity since starting TF

I've been eating much more TF for about 7 months (non-homogenized organic pasture milk, organic pastured eggs/protein sources and much more of them, more fish/shellfish, FCLO/BO supplement, cooking with organic animal fat or coconut oil, mostly in-season mostly local produce, lacto-ferments, currently wheat-free) and have noticed that I am now EXTREMELY sensitive to caffeine and alcohol. Have tried doing searches to see why this may be but can't come up with anything so far. I was hoping that by improving my health, my liver function would be as good or better than before so I'm a bit mystified by this sensitivity. Any of you have ideas/experienced anything similar?

Sounds like a slow Phase I or blocked Phase II detox pathway.

Try to determine your detox pathway issues from reading here and include foods with the necessary nutrients.

I've always thought of this as my body becoming more pure (less crap & toxins) so it's more aware of crap when I'm exposed to it.

My kiddos had a severe reaction to topical fluoride at the dentist's office a year or so back & that was my theory on that too.

I don't know if it's what's really going on, but I feel like when you drink a fair amount of alcohol regularly, you build up a tolerance (& this is toxic to the body, too) and then when you don't really drink, you're tolerance goes down (you're more sensitive.) I could be talking out of my arse, but that's my theory.

I think the same way as Metasequoia. When you reset your body by eating whole healthy foods, it notices crap more (that is, it makes you feel worse) because it's not used to it. At least that seems to be how it works for me.

If I were having that issue I would probably suspect that I was naturally more sensitive to caffeine and alcohol than I had thought and it was just coming out more because my body wasn't used to processing things that weren't good for it anymore. I know that I personally am very sensitive to any "drug", be that caffeine, alcohol, sugar... In the past when I was less conscious (refusing to be conscious) about my health and diet I took in large amounts of all three of those and felt "fine". Now that I have been eating better and paying more attention to my wellbeing for a couple of years, I notice that those substances affect me much more strongly than I had wanted to admit. They also affect my mom strongly - I think it's just how my body is.

I could be wrong though, maybe it's some detox thing like WuWei suspects. Off to check out those links!

Thanks for the replies...have been swamped in the detox links. Whoa...that's some intimidating information...brain cramp! I think I came up with wanting to add more Molybdenum, Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin C to my diet...but I'm still feeling totally confused.

My ND suggested the same thing about my body being able to notice the crap more now. Scary thought, but perhaps true! I've always been rather sensitive to caffeine and have never been much of an alcohol consumer, but the sensitivities seem so much more pronounced now. Interesting!
