When will DD be able to control that thumb she so longs for??

DD will be 12 weeks on thursday and really wants to suck her thumb as she falls asleep but still can't control her hands. She cries and fusses while she is trying to fall asleep in our arms and will suck on our shirts, her fist (if it passes by), the sling, etc. She won't nurse to sleep so we give her a pacifier if she's really having a hard time but I think I would rather she suck her thumb than get hooked on the binky. I'm open to thoughts on that.

Anyway, about when will she get control of her hand?

My thumb sucker was consistently finding her thumb (and spitting out binkys!) by around 4 months.

OK thanks, I guess we'll be waiting a few more weeks then. At least she sleeps once she finally fusses her way down!

My 9WO has been getting his thumb pretty consistently in certain positions for about 2 weeks--on his left side on the bed he can get it 80% of the time--on his left side in his bouncy 95% of the time--on his right side 40% of the time--other positions maybe 20% of the time
First baby I've had (out of 4) that found his thumb ever, so I'm impressed!

My DD found it at 4 months and hasn't lost it since! It is such a gift!

My little guy has had his fist since day one, but just in the last 2 weeks has been able to find his thumb pretty consistently... he's 3 1/2 mos. He still sucks/chews on his entire fist about half the time, and the other half it's his thumb.
