stripes not lining up

I'm knitting a pair of legwarmers on dpn, and my stripes aren't lining up at all. Is it possible that I'm joining in the round wrong or something?? I can't figure out why everything shouldn't line up...

When knitting in the round stripes will never match up exactly. It is because you are knitting one big coil- the last stitch of the round will be higher than the first.

This link has a method called the 'joggless jog' that will minimize the jump in color.
