I'm from the same group and *my* husband is getting ready to take ours to the post office too. I'm a little worried about the Valentine's going to Canada (not sure how long it takes to get there)

It sounds like a lot of people are opening theirs as they arrive. I'm saving ours (well, we've only gotten one so far...) until Valentine's Day.

We had so much fun making our cards and have really enjoyed the valentine's we've received.

Ours went out today!
We got a handful of them today! They are being kept safely in their shoe boxes and we will open them on Sunday.

Just to let one family know, both envelopes you sent were ripped open (but put in post office envelopes to keep the items together). One pencil was broken in half. But everything else remained intact!

Ahhhhh! I paid the right shipping and they left our house just wonderfully. Any ideas on what we could do better next time? We paid the extra mailing so they would not go through the evil machines and be eaten.

Ok so the kids and I left for vacation a week ago. Dh was supposed to stuff the envelopes with a pencil and then mail them off.

He said he put a stamp on all of them and sent some of them off and they are coming back ripped to shreds and saying there's not enough postage. I really don't understand how a pencil could weigh so much? Because the card is just one of those little store bought cards that weighs nothing.

So we really didn't have another $15 to spend on more stamps - not sure what dh decided to do. He was really upset about the entire thing. I told him to steam open the envelopes and just take the pencils out but I'm not sure if he was able. Blah.

I was supposed to get home today but our flight was cancelled and we couldn't reschedule it until Sunday the 14th. So until then I don't really know exactly what's going on. If dh still hasn't sent them when I get home I'll be sure to be on it first thing on Monday.

I had to look this up as we sent pencils too and the USPS site says they need .64 to mail, not the .44 because they can not go through the machines. With just .44 on them sounds like they sent them through the machines and they got shredded and so USPS noticed they did not have the correct postage.

I hope this is not putting a damper on your vacation! It will all work out.

Cards are starting to arrive and the kids are so excited! We're finishing ours up right now and are going to the post office tomorrow morning. This has been a great craft project that's kept the kids happily occupied for nearly two weeks now.

Just a gentle reminder, because this has happened a couple times. Some of the kids' names in your address list are on the same line, for example:

Qualia and Sebastian
1234 Main St.
Nowhere, CT. 01010

Some of them are listed below each other:

Qualia
Sebastian
1234 Main St.
Nowhere, CT. 01010

Please don't forget to check that second line! Sebastian was really sad when a couple envelopes came just to Qualia.

We received the first cards a whole week ago, with candies included and the kids were so excited!

(Yes we opened them right away, DD is just 3 so this is the first time she's really aware of Valentine's day, so opening one early gets her into the spirit of what it's all about, so she's looking forward to more, and is eager to make her own to send out).

We finished making ours and got them mailed on Monday. We're the Canucks on the list, so I hope they make it to the US in time... if not, please rest assured they're on the way! The cross-border shipping can be SO unpredictable.

And to those who were worried about your stuff getting to Canada, don't fret too much. We'll understand if it arrives after the 14th. It really is unpredictable, sometimes it's as quick as if it were sent next door, other times it's like they send it to Mexico first....

Please check the lists carefully - I tried to standardize, but apparently didn't do such a good job. Please make sure that you are sending to each child on the list and don't miss any!

Also, for group three... It should be Gabe, Brook, AND Peace.

And if you haven't mailed out your cards, please do so. But if there is an issue and they arrive after Valentine's the kids will still love them. So better late than never!

We have really enjoyed the cards we have received!

grace and daniel have received several cards so far. they are SO excited! we decorated paper bags and taped them to the fireplace. all of their cards are being placed inside we sent candy with our cards, so i hope it all comes intact and nothing is squished or ruined! if you don't want candy, i apologize... just toss it. beka, thanks again for organizing it all!

Thanks Beka again for organizing this! We've gotten several cards so far, and more are arriving everyday.

I was told that anything that can't fit through a skinny slot (which included little ornaments that we wanted to send) would need extra postage, so that added 20 cents. Then, she told me that the ornaments would get completely crushed if sent in a simple envelope. So I had to take them all home, and re-address everything, but at least they were in a well-cushioned package. It then came to $1.75 in some cases. So I grouped famillies of 2-3 in the same main padded envelope, but each child still had their own separate Valentine's envelope. Hope this was okay to do, it saved me tons of money. The advantage was that I got to include an extra surprise.
