First, thanks to those who responded to my 'hotel beds' thread, we ended up having a couch in the room so I wedged that against the bed as a barrier with some blankets filling the gaps, worked great!

OK so the surprising part of the trip -- DS slept great!! Both nights he fell asleep around 11pm, slept 'til 10am or so, and only woke up 4 times all night! And each time he ate a lot! Normally he wakes soooo much more frequently and is just fussy all night long and will nurse back down but isn't actually EATING all of those wakings. I was looking forward to sleeping in LATE on our vacation but I was so rested that I was up by 9am both days!

He did the same thing last time we stayed at that hotel (several months ago) but I thought it was just a fluke the first time. We came home and he was back to waking every 20 minutes.

So, I'm trying to figure out what about the hotel helped him sleep.

-I know the bed was WAY more comfortable and our mattress is sooo old. If I run out of options I may have to buy a new mattress but can't afford to spend that $$ unless that's really the key element!

-The room was warmer than we keep our house... So last night at home I turned the heat up... he did seem to sleep really well last night but it was only one night so I'm not sure if that's it yet.

-There was some noise (people checking in late, ice machine, etc.) but nothing constant.

-We had an extra light on in the bathroom so the room was a bit brighter than home.

Is there anything else I'm not thinking of? I will seriously try anything to replicate that same sleep pattern!!! What have you found that REALLY helps your LO sleep better? DS is 11 months BTW.
