I've looked around for tips on this already, just curious if anyone's done it successfully. . . soaking in vinegar, WD-40, goo gone, etc? Anything that actually worked?

My mother hated the stuff for this very reason. I still remember clothing/carpeting that got silly putty in it.

First scrape off as much as you can with a dull (butter) knife. Freezing it first might help. Then follow the steps here:

Always freeze it first if possible.

I was going to say put ice on it. It should flake off. Works with gum should work with silly putty.

BTDT. Rubbing alcohol works. If you don't have that on hand, hand sanitizer with alcohol in it or cheap hair spray. Thriftyfun.com was where I found out about the alcohol when we had the...silly putty incident.

Yeah, thanks to a ruined easy chair when I was around 6, I've banned silly putty from my house

Thanks all, it's on a corduroy dress and really smooshed in. I think I'll go for the alcohol first. I doubt I'll really end up being able to save it, but feel obligated to try so. . . maybe it'll finally get tackled this weekend.
