Cat and Newborn - Page 2

Our cat has a tendency to do THIS and THIS.. She's never done anything to harm the baby, but certainly likes to sleep with her when she's set down.

I think proper introduction between cat and baby is necessary if the cat is known to have an attitude or s/he is a little aggressive towards new things or people. When I gave birth to DS, my cat Svoura was completely avoiding him, but I always kept an eye on her cause she was known for her attacks (She almost sent me to the hospital for stitches once). At first she was suspicious but she ended up sitting by my side when I was nursing DS. So cute. Unfortunately Svoura got killed by a car two months later. Then we adopted two other kitties who absolutely love DS. They rub against him and lick his toes. So sweet. But we have kept them out of the both bedrooms just for safety reasons and to keep the cat hair out. Now I have to keep an eye on my son cause he started crawling and these kitties don't even care when he grabs them and tries to eat their ears and tails.

I felt safer keeping the cats out of the room while she was sleeping (though it turns out they really had no interest anyway). Our cats won't jump over a baby gate.
