Does waterbirth increase the chances of hemorrhage??

I was just wondering if being in the water after the baby has come out increases the chance of losing too much blood? You know, like how you run water over a cut and it wont close up and stop bleeding. Its something I have always wondered and am just curious.

No. The wound you bleed from is the placental site inside the uterus and water will not flow up into your uterus, so it won't have that same effect of running a cut under water.

Ah okay, not meaning to sound dumb, but how come the water cant get up there? Because the contractions close your cervix?

And isnt the bleeding shedding the whole lining of the womb?....

I have 2 kids you think I would know a little more about it

When you have your period and take a bath (not a shower) are you washing out all of the blood/lining when you do that?

No, you dont. It works the same way.
