I've bt/dt and know how hard it can be.
While it's true that a licensed in-home provider might not require a note for every little thing, it's also true that the daycare provider would still need to adhere to regulations.

My babe is a tummy-sleeper. Has been since around 5 months--maybe earlier (you'd think I'd remember, but I don't). When we started her in daycare at about 5-1/2 months, I think that I had one conversation about it. DCP remarked that she consistently turns to her stomach; I said yeah, she does that. My point being that your son is probably moving to the position most comfortable for him. What I'd suggest while you consider new ped vs new daycare (I'm not convinced either is necessary, to be honest) is asking the DCP to monitor him and to move him to the center of the crib and/or turn his head to the side if he seems to be "stuck."

I am still reading the responses, but i have a licensed daycare and I watch, even the sleeping babies. Doing a check on them every few minutes. I can't even use swings at all in the daycare, but a baby sleeping on their tummy in my daycare isn't a problem when they roll over on their own. I am watching. Watching is my job.

Ok finished reading it.

Swings, carseats, bouncy seats etc. all restrict a childs natural movement as well as puts too much pressure on their lower backs. It is causing more problems on childrens backs as well as is contributing to more cases of flat heads. The carseats and swings are harder then even the crib mattresses. For our licensing, we aren't allowed to use anything that restricts a childs natural movement execpt high chairs and that is only for feeding.

Basically, if a child wants to be on their tummy and they can roll, it is my job to just watch them, not to roll them back. It is their natural movement. I have to provide lots of open, safe area for them to be on the ground and move, not stuck in a swing. Also, swings are often over used and kids aren't getting as much physical attention as they need.

That is what was all explained to us during our license training.

And for what it is worth, I need a note from a Dr. to use sunscreen even. I have to CYA as I call it (cover your a$$).

So I would just make sure the daycare is actually watching your child.

Silly idea here, but could the day care just put him down closer to the side of the crib he rolls away from and farther than the side he gets stuck on? Or does he roll both ways randomly?

I mean, in addition to the obvious thing of just moving him back when he rolls.

Or, put him in the crib across rather than along the crib? Cribs are huge and babies are small.
