Is anyone else here into the Wii Fit? I got Wii Fit Plus for Christmas and am really having fun with it.

I'm not counting it in my exercise totals on the 1000 minute thread, but it's nice to have it to do instead of sitting down at home.

We have one and have used it several times, but now that I'm huge preggers, I haven't used in a few months. But we still use our Wii to play games and such with DS.

We really like the whole system!

I'm totally hooked to the Biggest Loser wii game!!!

We got it for Christmas too. I burned 200 calories one night on it, but it took two hours, so probably not the most efficient workout. I was having fun though--did one of the wii fit workouts, then a yoga session I programmed, then just a bunch of random games.

I've been doing the yoga at night pretty consistently.

It seems very accurate, too. The BMI the Wii gave me was the same as my last check up at my gym.

I want to try that. I saw it at Blockbuster and I'm thinking of renting it before I decide to buy it.

Out of ALL the workout dvd's, all the wii games, even my treadmill, this is my favorite. it's fun and my heartrate stays up almost the whole time.

PS. I am NOT in good shape!

I am loving Gold's Gym Cardio. It is compatible with the balance board and is actually a boxing game (they should seriously tell you that in the name LOL)....it is alot of fun and surprisingly a pretty good workout (better than the wii fit IMO although I like that too).

I like the mii usage on wii fit. (we borrowed the older wii fit from our neighbor) not sure if other games allow you to be your mii?

does the wii fit plus have more to do?

we just got a wii for christmas too - i didn't know places rented games - what a great idea! they're so expensive!

I got a wi fit last year and really got into it. Used it every day and it helped me lose about 10lbs over a period of two months. But like everyone else when it comes to dieting and exercise, i got bored with it and it hasn't been out since October. Good luck with yours though.

My sister got a Wii Fit Plus for Christmas and despite the fact that her house is freezing , I've been over to play it a lot. What fun!

I even considered getting a Wii (I don't have any gaming systems, I've never really been a fan of them) so that I could have one at my house, but I don't really like to spend money.

We also love the wii fit plus.

My girls love running. It's so sweet to see a 3yrs old try to run in place. I have to hold the back of her shirt to help her stay in place. :

I also use the free step about once a day or every other day.

Right now, I'm learning to do yoga. Lovin' it!

I scored the Biggest Loser game for 50% off at Game Stop today and tried it out. It's a real workout. I'm going to aim for every other day, keeping at it with Wii Fit Plus and going to the Y too.

We just got a Wii for Christmas as well. It is a fun way to excercise. We are loving it so far and I am losing weight!

I have the EA Sports active More Workouts and love it! I borrowed Wii fit from a friend first. What I like about Wii fit is that you don't have to commit to a workout time frame. If you think you have 30 mins to work out but your LO starts fussing, you can stop any time. But my heart rate didn't go up as much using Wii Fit.

With EA Sports Active More Workouts, you can customize a workout or use preset ones. You have your basic lunges and all that, and then you have obstacle courses, water skiing, paddle surfing, which are more fun. They are basically just glorified ways to get your lunges and squats in, but it takes your mind off the fact that you're just doing lunges and squats. The only thing I don't like about this game is that it's not really a "game" in which you earn points. In most of the games, like boxing, if you don't duck when they ask you to duck, you don't get hit in the head and your Mii still ducks on the TV screen. I wish it was a little more true to what you're doing. I would try harder.

We bought ours just before Thanksgiving. I am not overweight or underweight, but if I am honest with myself I would like to weigh 10 lbs less (or even 15). Still, I promised myself that weight loss would not be my goal. I am using it to get into the habit of exercising more. I've always been a bit of a couch potato, since college, and my doctor keeps telling me to get more exercise.

I lost no weight in my first two months of using the WiiFit or My Fitness Coach routines 3-5 times a week (30 minutes a day at first, then 45, now I aim for 60). I haven’t gained, either. I have hovered right around my start weight the entire time.

BUT I think I look more fit and toned. I also feel stronger and more energetic, and my mood improves when I work out. Using it has motivated me to do more non-Wii exercise videos, and to buy a yoga passbook for 2010. I’ve started taking fitness/yoga classes one or two times a week. I do the Wii weigh-in every day to keep me thinking about fitness. It is part of my new (to me) focus on physical health.

Buying the Wii Fit Plus and My Fitness Coach disc have definitely been worth it for me. I'd love to get Active in a few months.

i love the wii fit plus, it is FUN, the kids like it too. the one annoying thing is, that after the kids play a game their me is usually sad b/c they didn't score high enough. i think if the game knows that the child is 4, they should make the mii happy since kids are playing to have fun. my daughter refused to play for two weeks b/c of that.

i want to look into those other games.

(the EA active kicked mt butt, way more then the fit)

I agree!

I have a question. I have a wii fit. I think in a couple of months, I'm going to need something more, but not sure what. I'm thinking either wii fit plus or the jillian michaels one. I just want to get my heart rate up 15 mins a day and build muscles to stay healthy. I don't want to lose weight. What should I get?

I love this thread! I'm getting a Wii as soon as our taxes come back. I'm a little lost though. What should I get besides the console? Do I need extra controllers? Nunchucks? The balance board? Please help a Wii newbie!!

Thanks!

Depends what you're going to use it for. If it's likely that everyone in the house is going to be playing, then at least get enough of the basic Wii controllers to go around (up to four can connect at a time). You'll REALLY want a battery recharger and lots of rechargeable AAs, because the remotes each use two! Very few of the games I have use the nunchucks, so you may choose to hold off on buying extras of those (you'll get one with the system). The balance board can still only be bought with Wii Fit, so get it if it sounds like something you want - I like it, but my husband doesn't, and it costs $100.

Games are expensive, as they are with all game systems, so put some thought into how you're going to use it. Do you mainly want active games? Then go for Wii Fit, some of the other fitness games mentioned in the thread, Dance Dance Revolution, Sports Resort, etc. Do you want to play old-school games? You can download classic Nintendo games for about $5 each and you may want to buy the "classic controllers" if you're going to spend much time playing these. Do you want some of the newer, popular games? Mario Kart is an absolute blast and I'm currently loving the New Super Mario Brothers for Wii.
