4 Year Old Grunts a Lot

OK... no idea what to do. My 4 year old DS grunts a lot. He grunts while he's eating. He grunts while he's just sitting. He grunts all the time. It sounds like he's sitting on the toilet.

Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this and how to stop it? (If possible?)

Is it a nervous tic? My friend's son has many nervous tics that are quite strange, one is a wheezing breath that he has no medical reason to have (she had him checked out very extensively before the doctor concluded that it was a nervous tic). She ignores the tics and they seem to come and go. If you are sure there is no medical reason for the grunting then I think you should try to distract him from it with talk or some other way.
