I'm planning a move, and my stuff will be in storage for a few months before I get settled. I'm only bringing on the plane what I can carry, and I dont know what to do about the sleeping situation. My 5 mo old sleeps in the bed, and I have a Humanity Family bed, which I am really comfortable with. Do I need to bring it with me? It's pretty big and I don't know how I'd pack it. But if not the HFB, how do I ensure he stays in bed with me? I'm really looking for travel advice, too. I feel like I'll either bring way too much or way too little.

We travel a lot. Ds is 2 now so it'll be a bit different for a not yet mobile little one. We got a bedrail awhile back. We have a love/hate relationship! I love that I can pack it up and take it with us and then feel safe while sleeping. I used to sleep really bad because I have actually let ds roll off my arm onto the floor.
But I actually hate putting it up and taking it down, probably more of a pet peeve than anything. But it is sooooo worth it! Also, I put chairs on the other side of the bed, but they do move a bit so I try to sleep on that side. I have used the pack n play as a bed rail too, but I just don't feel as comfortable with it. I did find the pack n play very useful for containing ds until he was about 20 months. Just for short periods in the hotel room when I was tired of keeping an eagle on him and all the un-child friendly stuff in a hotel room. BTW dh and I always get two beds when we travel. Everyone just sleeps way better than trying to cram into a king. If you don't already have a bedrail, it is something that your lo can use for a long time. In my opinion, it is worth the $25-30. Maybe if you are tight on space then pick one up when you get to your destination, using chairs, blankets whatever you have the couple days it takes you to get to the store.
Good luck with your move!

Thanks! For a while I'll be staying with my sister, and there's no room for the mattress on the floor but I think I could figure something out with chairs. I've also just found out about the blanket rolled up under the sheet. That might be an option for short term, as well. I have a platform bed, so if he did roll off it wouldnt be too big of a fall, but my sister's bed is really tall.
