Complete Kindergarten Curriculum?

Anyone have a favorite they want to share?

I am going to suggest HSing to stbx and I think he will want to see a major plan, something that will ensure the kids will meet all standards for the age by the end of the year.

And while we're at it, how about your best pro-homeschooling arguments? (I've already gotten a "what about the socialization?" from his lawyer, so there's more of that coming!)

If there are other threads on these topics, please point me in that direction, too. Thanks so much!

In regard to pro-homeschooling argument threads, there are a number of good ones - click on the links provided in them, and you'll be quite busy reading for a while.
How did you convince husband?

I didn't hs kindergarten, so my suggestions are going to be second hand . I did come across this site recently that sells a "curriculum fair in a box" that gives you some curriculum from a lot of major publishers so that you can try them out and see what works best for your child. It is pretty inexpensive and may be worth looking at if you are torn btwn various options: http://www.3moms.com/html/homeschool_curriculum.asp

And then, anecdotally, I've heard good things about Peak with Books as a preschool and K curriculum for literacy/language arts.

there is a list of complete curricula at homeschoolreviews.com - that may help in your situation. if i needed to buy a complete boxed set for kindergarten as the only way to ensure homeschooling, i would definitely do it. i'm sorry you're having to go through that. i'd probably choose oak meadow or five in a row... or something gentle along those lines though. if he's open to it, however, i think it would be much better to simply piece together your own curriculum...it could still be "complete" but much better suited to your child. hth.

We really liked Five in a Row, but we had a hard time finding a few of the books at the library (out of print I think). You can purchase all the books through them, but it's expensive. But for the books we did get at the library, FIAR was great. I don't think the guides are too expensive, and they are packed full of activities.
If you want to piece a bunch of stuff together, there is lots of free stuff on the internet. Also sometimes Scholastic will have great sales on their resource books.

Sonlight has a great curriculum. It's Christian, but you can do is secularly. (There are secular Sonlight homeschool groups on Yahoo.) It's based around literature.

Calvert has basically school in a box. If you're looking to "recreate" the conventional school experience at home, it may be a good fit.

Oak-Meadow, Christopherus, and Live Education are all on the Waldorf spectrum.

We're planning on doing Enki for kindy-2nd. It's a bit pricey but kindy is more affordable. http://www.enkieducation.org/html/cm...arten_pkgs.htm It's only $325 if you get the package without the childhood development books.
