Cast Iron and Ceramic Stovetop?

Thread Starter
Anyone use cast iron on their ceramic stovetop? I'd like to start using a cast iron pan that I have, but I've been reading it shouldn't be used on a ceramic surface. I can't find out if it'll damage the stove (can't really afford to buy a new one!) or if it's just a matter of uneven heating or what.

I did not know that. I used my cast iron on a ceramic stove for a year. The pans did get uneven heating. The cook top got very dirty and was difficult to clean. There were no real problems like a broken or ruined stove or pan.

I use mine. I'm just careful to lift the pan instead of sliding it.

I've used mine on a glass top for 2 years with no problems.

I use CI on my stove everyday, and it works just fine. There are definetly scuff marks on the stovetop, but who cares, really?
