Another shoe thread.... soft soles?

DD is 18 months and has only been in robeez type soft sole shoes. Today she slipped and fell on the cement because there is no traction on the bottoms. I want to stay with soft sole, but want something with a rubber bit on the bottom.

What would be the next step for us?

See Kai Run has a line called Smaller that are just as soft and flexible as Robeez but they have two circles of bumpy rubber on the leather sole that makes them non-skid.

We're in the UK and the main brands of shoes make pre-walking or cruiser shoes which are really flexible- you can scrunch them in your hand. I got these for dd after the Robeez type ones cause the ground got cold. They're rubbery on the bottom. She wore them till they didn't do them in her size anymore, even though the whole time, she had been walking for ages. She's 2 and a half and if I could, I'd still get them!

Maybe a brand in America makes some like these? I also liked that she could get ones that fit perfectly, I was always a little nervous the Robeez weren't the right size or width.

Check out Bobux. They have a couple of early walker soft-sole lines.

Preschoolians has a step up above the smooth bottoms. I think it's called, "I'm Walking/Running."

Hope that helps.

Target also has some soft soled shoes with rubber bottoms. They have one brand called Skidderz or something like that and then a few others that are a bit more rigid, but still flexible.

soft star shoes have textured soles

the smaller by SKR are my faves.

For a walker I'd recommend the regular See Kai Run. They have a little more support and traction, but are buttery soft and flexible. They were my son's first "real" shoes when he was walking well.

My favourites are See Kai Run, we also love Shoo Shooes (and they always have good sales) Robeez tredz are okay, bobox, sometimes pedipeds, but we haven't had them in a while.
With See Kai run, be prepared to spend $30-$40 for a pair of shoes, but they're really cute!

The SKR smaller brand would have been perfect for what I am looking for, but is too small for her feet. She is in a 6 now and it is just right, so I can't see spending all that money for shoes she will grow out of in a month or two.

I am going to check out a few of the other ones.

Thanks guys.

I ran into the problem of my DS needing soft shoes, but he is too big for most at a 6.5 or 7 and only 19 months. We found some by Simple that are very flexible, and for summer, I am going to order some Soft Star Shoes. I would not recommend Preschoolians. We have a pair and they are slick plastic on the bottom and very stiff. They also have a terrible chemical smell at first. Pedoodles look interesting, but I have not tried them yet.
If you have a really nice department store, you might want to give them a call and see what they offer in children's shoes, too. That is how I found the Simples and they were not on my radar screen at first.

SEARCHING, yet again...

On the shoe hunt again. I got some SKR for her and I love them (although, she does not.... so they are in the closet, unused)....

Anyways, I am looking for something with leather soles, but not too hot for summertime. She loves the robeez we have, but they are getting too small for her and I want something that breathes a bit. Any suggestions?

I was looking at the Soft Star Shoes, but the sandal type come only in 4T??? The shoes need to be soft leather soles, so no rubber will do.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe look at Riley Roos? They have sandals and they run big. My 2 year old has itty bitty size 5 ish feet and their 12-18 months are too big. I'm guessing an 18 to 24 will fit your DD for the summer. They have the same type of sole as the SKR smallers.

They have leather-soled shoes and very soft, flexible rubber soles with great traction. And they're cute, too!

did you look at the toddler section of soft stars? They run bigger then 4T. We love ours!

I just wanted to say that the rubber sole on the soft star shoes is so flexible I can literally roll it like a jelly roll, they are much more flexible than SKR. We love Soft Star Shoes. The thicker soles do start at size 8, but you can always get them custom made with the thinner soles, their customer service is really great. We used them starting when my dd was 18 or 20 months, and now that she's a bit older we buy either Soft Star Shoes or SKR.

If you do go with the soft star's I really recommend using their sizing charts you can print out just to be sure on sizing, to save yourself any trouble with them not fitting. I also always include my dd's width and instep measurements in the notes section.

We have Pedipeds Originals. They have leather bottoms. We really like them, so far. They go up to size 18-24 months in the leather sole. And they have lots of sandals, great for summer.

I always just went to khols/target/walmart and felt for the most flexible/softest shoes availabe. As a result we have a variety of fairly flexible shoes, one of the most flexible being some by Osh Kosh, along with a few by Khols own "jumping beans" brand.

ETA: for summer we love crocs and more specifically 'croclings' - they're like normal crocs but with elastic stuff on the backs so they are both easy to get on/off *AND* they stay on too!! Though, this year, DS1 has some jumping beans sandals that are like knock-off keens, as I couldn't find any croclings and was sick of dealing with shoes & socks when it ws 80* a couple weeks ago
