When I've found out it has always been correct. I had my scan with current wombie at exactly 18 weeks. It was glaringly obvious it was a boy, even before the tech looked specifically for gender. Boy bits in a LO with legs apart are really hard to miss. Of the people I know who were told incorrectly they were all told girl and it turned out to be a boy and usually years ago although one was just last year and they had gone ALL out for a girl-pink everything from stroller to carseat to nursery.

I only had one ultrasound each time and it was glaringly obvious that they were boys. Immediately after putting the wand to my stomach each time I saw for myself they were boys before the tech even had a chance to say anything.
Anyone I know that has had gender confusion on the utlrasound had the ultrasound too early for gender determination. I'd say from 20 weeks on you should be able to have a sure answer.
When we reported the gender to our midwife on our second baby, she said "we'll just have to wait and see because they can't be 100% sure", but our tech actually told us that she WAS 100% sure he was a boy (what I saw, too) and she was right.
