Do teeth need to be pulled?

I will try to find some information online about this as well, but I was curious if anyone had experience with this. Long story short, my dss' two bottom adult teeth are coming in behind his baby teeth. Apparently his baby teeth are not very loose, so they may take a while to fall out on their own (He is almost 6). Now, I say apparently, because his mother has told DH and I this. Anyway, she wants to have them pulled, but it will be very expensive ($200 a tooth). I was wondering if this is needed or not? Is there a medical reason to have them pulled, or is it OK to wait. I ask this because we (DH and I) will have to pay for them to be pulled, and want to make an informed decision. ,since we can't always trust his mom with information and we were not at the dr. office when she went in (I know that sounds awful, but we have had bad experiences in the past). However, that being said, we are more than willing to pay for it if it is needed. Has anyone had experience or know what the options are?
Thanks

No advice, just experience from way back when I was a child:
My baby teeth weren't getting loose either, so I had to have many of them pulled.
But I can't tell you whether it was absolutely neccessary or not

Personally, I would have the teeth pulled if the adult teeth are already starting to come in....they might need the room.

Also, couldn't your DH call the dentist office and ask some questions? As the father of the patient, he should be able to get some answers......

He's only five? That seems a little early imo, since most kids don't start losing them until 6 - 7 yo.

Are the adult teeth trying to grow up under them already and don't have space? If so, then I would consider it for those specific ones but not all of them right now.

Well it can lead to problems down the road with how his perm. teeth look and he may need braces. I always pull my kids teeth when they get loose to avoid this type of thing and have yet to have them have a problem. If they are not getting loose then that is a problem.

We just went through this with dd3 a few weeks ago! She is six. None of her teeth were lose, but dp noticed that she had a perm tooth coming in behind her lower front teeth. I freaked (in a very calm way) and got her right in to her dentist. He told her to wiggle and wiggle it, and he would help us get it out if she couldn't wiggle it out in three weeks. I made an appt for three weeks out (to cancel if tooth came out). It didn't, and the dentist pulled it for us. It cost $120 for the one tooth extraction, laughing gas, novacaine, etc.

So I'd call the dentist and ask about the fees. Maybe another dentist would do it for less, or you could make arrangements with her dentist. Although I'd let her go to her own dentist for the emotional comfort level of a six year old.

Our dentist said you only pull one baby tooth for one permanent tooth. If you pull extra, the perm tooth can slide out of place. With my dd3, her perm tooth (to my suprise) really IS scooting into the place where the baby tooth was pulled from. It may not save us from orthodontia later, but it is helping for sure.

I have known two kids who had a whole row of perm teeth come in behind baby teeth. Both kids ended up having baby teeth pulled - one girl EIGHT in one day... She was eight I think, and they never got loose enough to even wiggle.

I'm hoping that having that one baby tooth out will loosen the root of the other one next to it, which needs to come out next as we can see THAT perm tooth coming in a tiny bit now too.

All 3 of my kids have had adult teeth come in before the baby tooth was ready to come out. once the baby tooth came out(on it's own) the adult tooth moved into place.
