My DS was 21 months when DD was born, at first it was a little rough. He was pretty jealous and if I laid her down in the playpen or put her in the swing he would through things at her so I ended up wearing her pretty much all the time (which was okay by me) . After a while he mellowed out and once he realized he could make her smile or laugh at him he became her constant entertainment. It did take us longer to get ready to go somewhere so start earlier than you normally would. I tried to have little snacks on hand, crackers and cheese fruit already cut into small pieces. The one on one is tricky too, your just so tired from the newborn but when I sat down to BF I would read him books or we would color. Now they are 3 and 1 1/2 and best friends, well...most of the time.
