Does anyone use poo liners for their CDs?

I didn't even know that liners existed til I saw a youtube video, lol.

Does anyone use the paper liners for their cloth diapers? If so, how well do you think they work? Is it worth it? Do they cause leakage? Will a diaper sprayer be necessary if we use liners? Could we just use paper towels, lol?

This is related to my other post because I'm thinking that maybe if the liners keep most of the poo from getting to the dipe, washing might be more feasible?

TIA!

I've never had a reason to need them. I try to keep CD simple for DH's sake.

We used these while traveling, since it allowed us to more easily flush the poo and, therefore, not carry as much around with us. We got the ones on a roll and they seemed plenty soft and not papery. We didn't flush them enough in any one place to say for sure, but didn't see evidence of any problems with flushing them.

While I don't have too much trouble with excess sticking to dipes, there are certainly days I wish I'd thought to use the liners at home.

They do tend to bunch up after a while, so you're not always going to get 100% on the liner, but it generally as helpful in the times when he did have a BM. Of course, quite a few get used when there's no BM, so you're going through more than absolutely necessary. But, unless your child is very regular, as it were, it's hard to do it any other way.

Oh! I just realized which other post was yours, and am not so sure the liners would do that much for EBF newborn poo. I mean, that cottage cheesy, curd stuff? It might catch it. But most of the newborn poo is basically liquid. It wouldn't really "catch" on the liner, just soak through it.

And, seriously, that newborn stuff really does just go in the washer. There's no point in trying to spray it out, and washing it works really well. There's nothing, err, chunky to get caught in the washer. It's EASY. And doesn't even smell bad. (Yeah, I miss that smell now that my youngest is 2! )

So, liners are great for toddler poo, but probably not at all worthwhile for a newborn.

I read your other thread in its entirety and I'm posting my whole response over there, but in short, this is the solution I came up with too. Between the diaper sprayer and the liner, I'm hoping that will suffice. It certainly makes sense that it would. I'm not a mommy until March though, so haven't tried this out, and I'm hoping the general response to this thread will support my assumption!

I'd go for it. In fact, I AM going for it! And were I you, I'd wash my child's underwear in the family washing machine--not at the laundromat, and not at a diaper service--without compunction. Your baby has the right to have parents who aren't stressed out over money!

Edited to add: I just read the last post above mine and am sorely disappointed that y'all aren't supporting my fantasy that I can use liners and spray the poop away before getting to the wash cycle for a newborn. So I'm just going to hold onto my delusions, if you don't mind!

CraftMediaHero--I'd still use my own washer. Just sayin'.

In the NB stage no they are totally pointless then not only is rinsing NB poo just a not as issue but its so watery it all just seeps through the liners..
For that first solids tar stage I LOVED LOVED LOVED them ( a sprayer might have also worked)
I also liked them for one the go pat the early NB stage they made using CDs while out a lot easier at home though no.

BTW I just read and responded to your other post and lie the PP had similar thoughts on how to deal with it. For you I'd highly suggest a diaper sprayer.
http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php?category=1543 her is one for around $30 you can totally rinse all diapers out even pee ones if you like before the diapers ever hit the pail flushable liners will be pointless on a NB especailly a breast fed NB there poo is too water soluble and it will jsut leak right through the liners. The sprayer though would be perfect I'd think.

I just got some liners with toddler size diapers for my 21 month old. Really the only thing I have used them for is to keep diaper rash ointment off the diaper. My little guy has been having multiple bouts with tummy bugs recently so the liners came in handy while trying to keep up with his red rear end. Other than that they seemed a big waste of time to me.

We use flushable liners for my 10 month old. Flushable ones made by Imse Vimse actually hold up thru a few washings, so you reuse them 3-4 times each.

That said, we only use them for day care. At home I use my shower head sprayer on the toilet. No worries about curious 3 yo figuring out how the toilet sprayer works! Also, a $30 shower head sprayer is well worth the $ for a dual purpose. And I'd imagine you can get better water pressure off the shower than the toilet :P

We use them, but only after starting solids. I have never used a diaper sprayer w/any of my CD kids bc it seems like too much work for me. So I just toss the dipe in my dry pail and dump the whole thing in the washer on wash day.

The liner gets most of the chunky stuff and I just throw it in the trash bc we can't flush anything except toilet paper here so I don't want to chance it.

We like them. We also use the Imse Vimse brand. Time to p/u or order some more.
