I don't know what to knit!

I want to knit something, but I don't know what. I'm at a loss as to what to start. I thought about some wrist warmers for the kids to wear under their mittens, but can't decide on a yarn to use. I thought about socks, which I haven't done, but I hate DPN's. I don't have circulars small enough to use instead of DPN's.

What do you do when you don't know what to do? Any other ideas?

I love knitting hats and crocheting bags, they're my "go to" projects

LOL, I knit everyone new hats already. Might just go with the socks, plus its an excuse to get new needles, right ?

If you hate DPNs, have you tried Magic Loop? That's the only way I knit small things

there is a sock pattern in erika knight's "simple knits for little cherubs" which uses standard knitting needles. it's easy!

if i didn't know what to knit, and looking at patterns wasn't inspiration enough, i'd go to the yarn store and find something i "needed" and then find a suitable pattern/project!

LOL, sounds good to me!

I was thinking, I have 2 DD's with birthdays coming up in March & April, and I'd love to knit something up for them. I thought about a cute shawl for the older one (she'll be 8) since she likes to wrap up in a blanket a lot. The younger one (she'll be 6), I thought about some cute headbands or a cute little skirt or something (she's my girly-girl).

I must say, I the pattern search feature on Ravelry!!
