Low/No fiber eating to heal gut issues

I was a member here several years ago (2006/7), and at that time, there was a thread/conversation about people who have experience improvement in their gut function following the addition of good fat, and the removal of fiber from their diet.

My son and I have celiac disease, and while we're lucky in the sense that we don't get the diarrhea that celiac is known for, we go too far the other direction and get stopped up.

I'm suspecting that pulling fiber from both of us, in general, would be a good thing-my intuition was right as far as celiac with both of us, and I have the same feeling with the no fiber thing, but I'm searching for information on actually DOING it. We try to follow a TF/WAP diet, and don't do a very good job of it. This, however, is a new year and a new start. So.

Is there anyone here with experience doing a low/no fiber diet? Would anyone have any resources/threads to point me to? I wasn't able to find anything via search, but my search mojo doesn't always work.

Many thanks!!

I was probably on that thread. I was dx with celiac disease and only really felt good on a high fat, low fiber diet. I felt fantastic when I was basically NO fiber. I'll come back if you have any other questions! It made a huge difference in my life, but to be fair I have never experienced constipation in my life.

What I ended up doing was juicing my veggies. I did meat, eggs, minimal dairy-usually raw-and some fruit. Maybe a piece a day? I also added as much fat as I possibly could...avocado, coconut oil, butter etc.

Fiber Menace is an interesting book.

I didn't read the book, but I read through the web site a while ago. If I remember correctly, it was saying basically stay away from grains, which I agree with, and if you need to do any fiber at all, it should come from vegetables and maybe a little fruit. Grains would be the fiber that you want to avoid. I was off grains for about 3 to 4 weeks and I learned that grains caused me to have gas and bloating. My stomach became flat so much that I was able to fit into a pair of jeans that I wasn't able to fit into since before I was pregnant and even my husband was commenting "wow your stomach is so flat now" and also I barely had any gas during that time. I ended up going back on grains a couple weeks ago and gas and bloating are back. The thing is I didn't even realize that I was bloated when I was eating grains. I'm planning on going off grains again soon...
