Bleaching hair with baking soda?

Does anyone know if this would work. I wanted to lighten my hair, maybe just highlights and was thinking maybe that would work. What do you think?

I don't think that will work. Many people regularly wash w/baking soda to clean their scalp. I do know that lemon juice will lighten your hair though. When I was younger I would make a spray bottle of lemon juice and water and spray on my hair when I went to the pool or the beach.

I haven't had much luck with lemon. It's been a long time since I tried it though. I heard it can really damage your hair. Does it only work in combination with the sun?

I guess I was just thinking that people use baking soda to bleach things so maybe it would work for hair. But maybe not.
