Do HB midwives do prenatals in your home?

Or is that just some fantasy I have?

Some do, some don't. All are different. Over the years with different homebirth MW's, I've had appointments in their house, my house, and an office.

There are several in my area who only do home visits, and some who only do office visits. (usually their office is their home).
Hope you find some one you love!

If they do prenatal visits in their "office", towards the end of pregnancy, they usually come to your home to do the 37 week and on ones. Mainly so they can check out your house, and make sure they know how to find it easily.

Mine does.

She feels that making sure I always feel comfortable and that I'm very used to them all being there is part of creating the right birth environment as well. I appreciate it for that, and because then I don't have to haul a toddler to prenatals!

My last midwife (in a small town) did homevisits only. She didn't have an office, and her home was out in the sticks.

We are interviewing midwives right now (in a big city) and only one does homevisits (so far). And she was mighty expensive!! The others do visits in their home, or in an office/birthing center.

I had a MW for prenatals during my last pregnancy and yes, she came to my home. For appointments in her own town people came to her home, though. She was a DEM. Most of the more certified MW's in this area require you to come to their offices.

Mine does.

I do both. I charge an additional fee if the client wants me to do all appointments in their home, but it is an option! Otherwise, I have a home office.

Mine does my house or hers, but we also live about 3 miles apart. It's a great option to have.

Mine typically has everyone come to her, but depending on how busy she is & what else she needs to do/who she needs to see, she comes to me for my appointments. She's super busy & very flexible about how we meet as long as we accomplish our appointments

All three of the midwives I interviewed only did homevisits for prenatals. I loved my prenatal visits. It was like having a friend come by. Definitely a huge perk for me.

That makes me smile. My midwife for my last pregnancy did all prenatals at me home and I felt the same way.

mine do, and we love it! my husband works from home, so if he ever needs to, he can be later or take a call... makes it that much more possible for him to be at every appointment.

my MWs don't have an office, but if they ever needed me to, i'd be happy to go to one of their homes.

In Ontario, midwifery is regulated, so nearly all visits are at the clinics, except for one nearing 36-37 weeks. I don't mind. The clinic looks more like a tranquil womanly retreat anyways, so it's a joy to relax there.

Mine do, and I am trying hard to find a pediatrician who will do the first visit at home as well!

My midwife does prenatals at her office, but she does a home visit at 36 weeks and her back-up midwife does a home visit at 37 weeks. Then all PP exams are done at home. I would imagine if you have a midwife who does only home visits, you're probably paying a bit more for her travel time.

Some do, some don't. My Midwife does prenatal in her home for the first while, and then she starts coming to my home.

I have done that in the past, if the clients needed it. It is usually easier on them, especially if they have many small children, but I will have my own office, so will work it out with individual clients..I will incorporate an "extra mileage" fee, for those who I would do only home visit pnvs with....it would cover my expenses better...
