Motrin Prolonging Teething? (x post LWAB)

A poster mentioned this yesterday in a different thread on Life With a Babe and I had never heard of it - basically that since Motrin is an anti-inflammatory and teething is an inflammatory process, the medicine actually slows down teething. Does anyone know if this is true? My 7 month old is starting to teethe badly and I do have Motrin for only REALLY bad times (which is how I used it with DD) but wouldn't want to use anything that is going to prolong things!

well DD was a painful teether, and we gave her motrin; she seemed to teeth FOREVER. in fact, she got her fangs in first and that wasn't until a year. i have often thought the same thing (did it prolong.)

Someone on LWAB just posted that she did find research that ibuprofen can inhibit tooth movement WRT orthodontics. Although there seems to be nothing corresponding to teething I guess it might stand to reason that it could also inhibit the teeth moving down?
