Mediation or Yoga with young children? - Page 2

I have done deep breathing, chanting and relaxation techniques with my son. We did it a lot around 2-3 when he was having a lot of tantrums. I would sit with him, make him relax his body and chant, "I am calm, I am happy, I am calm, I am happy..." It works quite well.

Silly to Calm for Kids is a FANTASTIC video to do yoga with kids! It's fun for them *and* it does help calm them and it's a good, short run for adults! I love doing it with the kids especially now that I'm hugely pregnant and not very interested in doing much that's exercise-like

I'm so thrilled I found this thread...I was actually thinking of starting to do yoga with my almost 2 year old tomorrow. I figured he would be curious and try to do the things that I'm doing. I'm hoping that it can be something that we enjoy together. I recently purchased the "My Daddy is a Pretzel" book, but I haven't read it yet. Subbing

we just started doing a yoga video from the library, called Banana Yoga w/ Shana Banana. My DS, who is 28 months, loves it! It is pretty silly and he really enjoys it. The woman on the video--shana banana--drives my husband crazy, so I'll probably look for an alternate, but this has been a good intro to yoga for my son. She has a song all about what "namaste" means and my son loooves it!

And I second what another poster wrote--I am hugely pregnant and this is just the right amount of yoga for me! so I've really enjoying doing it together with my son.

I checked this out on Amazon, and you can actually buy this in a set with yoga kids ABCs for only 50 cents more.
