vaxing when sick?

why is it particularly risky to vax when i child has a cold? i'm just curious

It is sort of degrees of risk.

IMO vaccines are never safe. However, if you gave a vaccine to a child how was acutely ill, say with pneumonia, it seems likely that the vaccine might make the kid sicker or provoke a vaccine reaction.

If you gave the same vaccine to a child who was mildly ill, or recovering from a serious illness, or on antibiotics or recently coming off antibiotics, the risk of problems are probably less than with the seriously ill child and more than with a perfectly healthy child.

But it is all guesswork, because they never test vaccines on children who are even mildly ill, with a few very limited exceptions.

All vaccines are a stress on the immune system...if a child is already ill with a cold, their immune system is down...vaxing then would only tax it further, [erhaps opening the door to other illnesses to take hold.
