How old for a mei-tai

What age was your LO when you used the meitei with him/her?

I think she was about 2.5 months, or 1 month adjusted age. She was still pretty little, but oh so comfy in there! She's 8 months and over 20 pounds now, and we're still both comfortable with the Mei Tai!

I started wearing DS when he was only a couple days old (legs in froggy position) and at about 4 month he was ready for legs out

1st time was at about a week old. She was about 6lbs. We wore her w/ her legs froggied in for a long time (5m I think) b/c she was so tiny. 1st back carry was at about 6m. I still wear her in the MT at least a few times a week & she is 20m old.

With ds2 he was probably under a week old when he first was in a mei tai. I had him on my back in the mei tai at 6 weeks old. As ds2 will be 2 weeks before my edd I'm sure back carries will be very important with ds3 from a very young age. While they are tiny I think the sling is easier with less to get it adjusted just so, but even then with a long carry the mei tai can be more comfortable.

From a day or two in the front, and from two weeks in a high back carry in a tall-bodied MT (Kozy).

We started right away. I remember taking DD for a walk in front carry with froggy legs when she was maybe 3 days old.

us too. I had a RS, an MT and a Moby, and the mei tai was the easiest for me to navigate- I'm brand-new at this and the learning curve for the MT was much shorter

Thanks for posting this thread. I was wondering the exact same thing!

I would say its down to both age and size.

For an average sized baby, about 4 months of age. (you don't have to frog their legs then...I never found it 'cuddly' enough before then).

But I have a friends who sons is TINY for his age (hes like only just in 6-9 month clothing at a year of age! lol...) and really hes so tiny hes still pretty comfy in a newborn wrap! lol

I used a wrap when DD was small/light enough to front-carry, and only made a meitai when back carry was preferable for us both. So for us the meitai was good from 13months until about 40months.
