infected tooth

Dd had a dentist appointment last week and she has a huge cavity in one of her back teeth - she has an appointment in a couple of weeks to have the tooth pulled. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help her with any pain and to manage the infection? I'm scared about the infection spreading more, or that she won't cooperate with the dentist at the next appointment and we'll have to wait longer.

I've never used it, but clove oil is supposed to be good for tooth pain. However, I think it's slightly toxic, so use it sparingly.
