Let's talk toys!

Right now, our three year old daughter loves her babies, which are a pink kitty named Rosa, a Dora the Explorer plush doll, and a little soft bodied baby doll that she calls Shi-gwa (spelling?) that she named after the little Panda on the Kai-lan DVD . She pushes them around in a stroller, even though she herself still often rides in her mei tai .

Our five year old son has discovered art and how much he loves building. We got them some foam blocks from Oompa a couple of years ago. This is the most he's ever played with them. He's also really good at puzzles.

What do your kids like to play with? Anything they particularly love or are good at right now? If you could buy them a toy (or toys) right now, what would you get?

This little baby penguin, and maybe some other baby animals

Hamburger, fries, and chicken nuggets play food. Yum!

my dd (24 mo) loves large cardboard building blocks. She uses them to build barns and stables for her animal figurines (her favorite toy) and to make rooms for her doll house furniture.

She also likes Mellisa and Doug cutting food, play doh, and her magna doodle. And crayons.

awesome thread!! i was just coming to look for some ideas for dd's 3rd birthday. she loves babies but has plenty (cradle, moses basket, stroller, clothes, diapers, sling...the whole 9 yards). she likes books, play dough, art supplies and the wooden train set. i really want to get her a set of wooden unit blocks. (they are coming from grandparents). but not sure what to look for.

she has play kitchen, puzzles, instruments, dress up, small table/chairs. the child needs not a thing. tons of clothes and music. she is hard to buy for. grin.

hoping other mamas have good ideas!!

What about play silks? you could buy white and use koolaid to dye them together as a fun project to do together.
