outgrowing bouncy chair - now what?

What do you do with your babes when they no longer fit/are safe in the bouncy/swing/jumper? We really only use the bouncer anymore when I take a shower and no one else is home. But, what do we use now? I've asked a couple other people & they said exersaucer, which we do not have. Is this a must have item? Any other ideas?
Thanks!

I also relied on a bouncy chair in order to get a shower in. I knew without a doubt that my dd has outgrown it when one day while I was getting ready to get in the shower, she leaned forward, flipped out with the chair still attached to her, and started crawling around with it on her back as if she was a turtle!

We went out and bought this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2508004

Now, at 24 mo, she still sits in it when I shower. The deal we have is that I won't strap her in as long as her butt stays in the chair while I am in the shower. I've only had to strap her in twice since we made that deal! Now when it is time for me to shower she runs and gets a couple of books and reads them while rocking.

The exersaucer kept my daughter busy for 15-20 min. at a time, which was nice. We had the Baby Einstein one. It wouldn't fit through the bathroom door, but I'd put it right at the doorway when I needed to shower and she would play happily. Our swing was good up to 25 lbs. so we used that til she was about 18 mos.!

I say exersaucer when the bouncy seat is outgrown!

I like the look of that rocker! My DS is only 4 months old, and is almost grown out of his bouncing chair. We have an exersaucer, but he gets overwhelmed by it so quickly (Even with the sounds turned off.) I couldn't leave him in that for a shower...

Hilarious!! But exactly what I am afraid of! He already leans really far forward and touches the floor.

I like the rocker. Looks like we have some shopping to do, either a rocker or exersaucer!

There may be some debate on this, but I've been using a walker in the bathroom only since DD was about 4 or 5 months. I just put some toys in front of her and that usually gets her through my shower. Beats the huge amount of space the exersaucer takes up, and it's way less annoying. Plus I think DD likes being mobile for that period of time.

DD is 6 mo and we use the exersaucer too. I loooove it and so does she. Occassionally I put her in the pack n play with some toys while i shower. My bathroom is in my bedroom where the pack n play is so I just leave the door open and I can hear if she's fussing.

We got this:

Which is like the exersaucer but small and inexpensive compared to some of the others I saw. Our bathroom is really tiny (and our house is too!) so it was important to me to find something compact.

I picked up a bumbo seat cheap at a garage sale. That bridged the gap between the bouncy and sitting up independently. He only used it for about a month. He started sitting at 5 months. And standing at 6 months. He pretty much stands at the edge of the shower and peekaboos me the entire time now.

We borrowed a jump a roo thing and he just hated it. I'm glad we didn't buy one!

DS and DD both loved the Jolly Jumper. Right now, DS (8 months) will happily bounce away in the Jolly Jumper for almost 30 minutes if I let him. We have an exersuacer too and it will buy me 15-20 minutes if I'm lucky. Rice puffs in the high chair will occupy him for a loooooooooong time, or in the Bumbo with the tray. Without the tray he'll lean and roll out of the Bumbo and will only sit in it for about 3 minutes, even with toys at hand.

When he's sitting well enough, he'd probably be happy to come in the shower with you!

My DD loves her bumbo. We never had a bouncy seat though, I just made a safe spot for her in the bathroom.

DS uses his Jumperoo while I shower now. He used to sit in the swing in the bathroom doorway, but I got tired of having to move the stupid thing out of the way and there was no place to store it. Plus he learned how to lean forward and tip himself out.

With my girls I would put a blanket on the bathroom floor and put some toys down, and play peekaboo while I showered.

DS went in his jumperoo for showers starting around 5-6 months old until he was able to crawl (just before 10 months old). Once he was mobile he hated being confined in anything. So now I just bring some toys into the bathroom and he does his own thing. Although, 'his own thing' usually involves standing at the edge of the tub while I shower and whining

this is what we have. I bought the exersaucer last month and now that she can hold her head up DD is already sitting in it for short periods and loves it.

Another vote for an exersaucer, and get a clear shower curtain (they make PVC-free ones now).

I wouldn't buy a new bumbo seat because a baby can flip out by arching her back, so even if yours sat in it happily, it doesn't take long before she can work her way out. You might get some use out of one but probably not as long as you would an exersaucer, IME.

Worst case scenario, wash your hair in the sink and take a bath with the baby.

My babe loves tummy time, so I'll just stick her on her tummy on the floor. If necessary, I have a barely used crib I can put her in, or her cosleeper.

DH and I will also shower with the baby, which she loves.

We use the 'jonny jump up' that attaches above the door frame.
