Hey there fellow mommas...
I'm about 19 weeks and looking forward to our (third so far) US on Monday. At about 11 weeks I ended up in the ER with really bad sciatic pain. The ER doc's were really unhelpful (one said I was having twins!) until they finally got the little US machine in to confirm that I'm only carrying one baby, who was fine. After another couple of weeks, an appointment with the midwives and another US (this time a real one) finally confirmed that I have two large fibroids (13 cm and 7 cm) that were causing the sciatica and other minor complications. I started showing very early (at 15 weeks I looked more like 22). I sometimes have trouble eating or moving, depending on where the fibroids are located from day-to-day.
The sciatic pain comes and goes and can be extremely intense. I've had to put myself on bedrest a couple of times for about a week. Other days I feel fine. It's definitely been causing me trouble at work, since I'm on my feet and moving most of the day.
Does anyone out there have any advice? I'd love to hear what some women with similar experiences did to deal with them, or how it affected the later days of pregnancy.
Thanks a bunch!
