I'm almost 34 weeks pregnant and we moved about a month ago. I'm not sure why, but suddenly my 3 year old cat has become aggressive toward the 2 year old cat. Before, sometimes when they were playing and it got rough, she would cry or hiss at him, but now she growls and hisses angrily at him for no reason.
I've observed it several times - he'll do nothing more than walk by her and she aggresses at him. She's even jumped up on the bed, where he's sleeping and doing nothing to her, and start growling at him. Or if they're eating she'll start growling for no reason (they've eaten together since we brought him home as a kitten).
It's not all the time - they still play and sleep together sometimes. My husband says she never does it when I'm gone, only if I'm here. His theory is that she is starting to sense I'm pregnant (or there's something different) and it makes her tense. I'm not so sure. I would think it had something to do with the move, but we've been here for a month now and things are settling more every day, but her aggression only started about two weeks ago and doesn't seem to be stopping. We got her scratch tree up and she's the only one who uses it, so she has a place to assert herself and be high up.
She doesn't aggress toward us, and the other cat doesn't even seem particularly bothered by it, so it's not a huge issue, but if anyone has any insight into what might be bothering her I'd be interested. I don't want this to escalate and something's clearly upsetting her so I'd like to help if I can.
