What do you call it?

I've seen the term "extended breastfeeding", and I can't say I agree with it. I've seen some people use "full-term breastfeeding". Does anyone else have any other terms for it? My toddler calls it "beebees", LOL, but I don't think that one will make much sense to the public ;-P

I recently wrote a blog called "there's no such thing as extended breastfeeding" on this subject too, and it got me wondering if anyone else feels the same way about those words. In my perfect world, it would just be called "breastfeeding", and everything else would be "premature weaning", lol, but I don't think that would go over very well.

We call it "Yes, we still nurse"

I agree that it should just be called breastfeeding. I don't like the "extended" part. It's like saying "extended breathing" (okay, not totally the same but still...)

Yeah, it does imply "abnormal", doesn't it? Maybe we could call it "normal breastfeeding" and everything else "abnormal breastfeeding"

Full-term breastfeeding here.

I just call it breastfeeding. Anything else just feels to me like drawing lines in the sand. Why demarcate, you know?

I agree with this... I have always just called it breastfeeding. I never thought of it as extended... and dd is 3.5!

Breastfeeding. I don't think any other word needs to go with it. Just good ole' Mama's milk!

I just call it breastfeeding, no matter how long it's been going on. I don't see the need to use terms that make me out to be better or other breastfeeding women out to be less, simply because we nursed for longer or shorter times. What's the point of that?

I/we use "nurse" because I don't think there has been any feeding going on for several years; it's not really about that.
